Today, I'd like to introduce a really useful feature when working with Excel on your computer.
It's about a keyboard shortcut called 'Ctrl+'' (apostrophe).
Using this function, you can easily copy formulas from the cell above in Excel.
What is Ctrl+'?
Ctrl+' is a special key combination in Excel that performs the 'Copy Formula from Above Cell' function.
Just like copying a calculation method from the upper box to the lower box,
you can easily copy formulas from the cell above in Excel.
How do you use it?
1. Find the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard. It's usually at the bottom left of the keyboard.
2. Next, find the ''' (apostrophe) key. It's usually to the left of the Enter key.
3. Select the cell where you want to copy the formula.
4. Press and hold the 'Ctrl' key, then press the ''' key once.
5. Ta-da! The formula from the cell above has been copied.
What's good about doing this?
1. You don't have to enter the same calculation multiple times.
2. There's no worry about making mistakes when entering formulas.
3. You can save a lot of time.
Ways to apply it
1. When calculating monthly: You can create a formula for January and easily copy it to the rest of the months.
2. When summing up by item: You can quickly apply the sum formula from the first item to other items.
3. When calculating averages: You can easily use an average formula you've created once in other places.
Points to be careful about
1. If there's no formula in the cell above, nothing will happen.
2. Always check if the copied formula is correct.
3. Be careful as results may change if cell addresses change.
Good tips to know
1. Pressing F2 allows you to directly see the formula in a cell.
2. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+" copies the value from the cell above as is.
3. You can work faster by selecting multiple cells at once to use this function.
It might feel a bit awkward at first. But with a little practice, you'll get used to it quickly!!
